Problem
Our team, Media Gen, is a cross-functional team of capabilities, infra, & product, driving the integration of genAI across YT surfaces. At the time, the team was spread between building surface-specific capabilities for individual YouTube teams vs building modular, sharable genAI capabilities that scale across YouTube. This work was to show stakeholders how the Media Gen team should focus on platformization to increase velocity and quality.
User Needs
47% of Gen Z identify as content creators, however today’s storytelling is mostly limited to what’s possible to make on the camera. Today’s YouTube’s creation journey is optimized for the users that have the confidence, time, and skills.
